The Mosler automobile brand belongs to the American sports car manufacturer of the same name from Riviera Beach, Florida. The company became popular thanks to the racing MT900R and its civilian version MT900S. It ceased to exist in 2013.

History

The company was founded by Warren Mosler in 1985 and was called Consulier Industries. The debut model was the Consulier GTP sports car with a mid-engine layout. A 2.2-liter Chrysler engine with a turbocharger and 190 horsepower was used as the power unit. The chassis was a racing monocoque made of foam and fiberglass. In 1993, the company spun off its automotive division into a separate company, Mosler Automotive. It introduced an updated version of the Consulier, called the Intruder, which was equipped with a 300-horsepower General Motors LT engine. The car participated in the "24 Hours of Nelson Ledges" for two years in a row, winning both races. Its dominance on the track led to a ban on its use. Nevertheless, in 1996, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering introduced an even more powerful version with a 450-horsepower engine. After winning the One Lap of America, this car was also banned from further participation. In 1997, the Intruder received a V-shaped windshield, which improved its aerodynamics, as well as a new name, Raptor, which allowed it to participate in the One Lap of America 1997 again. It also won the race two years later, equipped with a 443-horsepower engine and a 6.3-liter displacement.

MT900

In 2001, the company introduced a model developed from scratch, the Mosler MT900. The rear-wheel drive sports car with a carbon fiber chassis was created using German Siemens software and was equipped with a 350-horsepower GM LS1 engine. Over the next four years, the MT900 underwent several modifications, and in 2005, it became known as the MT900S. This version had an engine from the Corvette Z06, the power of which was increased to 435 horsepower, which, with a weight of 1136 kg, allowed it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. In addition to the powerful engine, the car was distinguished by an exceptionally effective braking system, more productive than the McLaren F1, the holder of several braking records. At the same time, the racing version, MT900R, was introduced. In 2003, it won the "24 Hours" in Daytona, and then a number of similar races in Europe. Before its liquidation in 2013, the company noted several concepts, including a 6-wheeled Jeep, which used components from General Motors, in particular, two V8 Northstar engines.
