History

The brand emerged in 2022 after Lifan Group was acquired by Geely. After the deal was completed, a business reorganization was carried out, in which the previously acquired Maple Automobile was merged with Livan, after which the Maple brand was downgraded to a model name, but the production assets of this company were used to develop and produce automotive products. This is due to the fact that Maple has been producing cars since 2003, when the Citroen ZX "clone" was released. In 2008, Maple was acquired by Geely and until 2020 this brand was in oblivion, after which it was revived for the production of affordable electric vehicles. In 2022, Geely announced the creation of a joint venture based on Lifan and Maple for the production of passenger cars with interchangeable battery packs. The debut model was the mid-size crossover Livan 9, which is a modification of the Geely Haoyue.

Currently, the brand offers a fairly extensive range of products, including five models, of which only one is a sedan, and all the others are crossovers. All cars use the platform and components from Geely models of the same class. A distinctive feature is the interchangeable battery pack, which is replaced at special stations.
