Tires on GEO (ГЕО)

The GEO car brand belongs to the General Motors conglomerate and from 1989 to 1997 was one of the divisions of Chevrolet. The brand was used to promote compact cars produced by a joint venture created in partnership with GM and Japanese automakers. This was due to the lack of compact models of its own design at the North American conglomerate at that time. Therefore, Japanese partners provided already existing cars in their lineups, which were imported from the Land of the Rising Sun, or used as a basis for creating authentic GEO models produced at GM plants in North America.

History

The automotive brand was established in August 1989 and initially used to sell models imported from Japan in the US. The partners of the joint venture were Toyota, Isuzu, and Suzuki. Later, some of these cars were assembled in the US. In particular, the Prizm was released at the GM/Toyota plant in Fremont, and the Metro and Tracker at the GM/Suzuki plant in Canada. The exception was the Spectrum and Storm models, which were produced by Isuzu in Japan. The partnership was terminated in 1997. The production of all brand cars was transferred to Chevrolet, which continued until 2004. Nevertheless, considering the Japanese roots of these models, a significant number of them still exist, including on our roads, from time to time requiring a tire change.
