The automotive brand Alpine originated in 1954. The founder of the company of French origin, which specialized in the production of sports cars, was the racing driver Jean Redele. It was with several races, in which he became the winner on a Renault 4CVs car, that the company's history began. Notably, this was not an ordinary production model, but a modified version with a lightweight suspension and a five-speed gearbox. In the early 1960s, the company began actively collaborating with the already renowned automaker Renault. The result of this interaction was the appearance of a new model, number 108. In the 1970s, the company continued to develop, presenting new models to the public. Among them was the A110, which made a loud statement at numerous rallies and was successful with consumers. However, the 1974 crisis had an impact on the brand's further development, which had to actively work on modernizing its cars. The result of this activity was the 310 model, which improved the situation and was produced until 1986, then transformed into the Alpin GTR with an innovative plastic body.

As for the next decade, it became the final one for the company. In 1991, the Alpin 610 car was presented, which replaced the GTR and already came with a power steering and air conditioning in its primary configuration. However, it did not gain the necessary popularity and ended the history of the manufacturer in 1994.

Present Day

As early as 2012, Renault intended to revive the Alpine brand. For this purpose, a contract was signed with Caterham. However, two years later, the latter was terminated, and Renault continued the activity of reviving the brand on its own. The result was that in 2016, the Vision prototype was presented, which became a new stage in the development of the sports brand. Subsequently, the A424 hypercar model appeared, which was announced for participation in the FIA WEC competitions starting from 2024.
