The French company Aixam-MEGA was established in 1983 to produce subcompact passenger cars that did not require a driver's license. Production was carried out on the basis of the enterprise of the bankrupt company Arola. In 1992, the Mega brand appeared, which was also used for small commercial vehicles and passenger electric vehicles.

This separation has been preserved to this day. The Aixam brand is used for the release of subcompact passenger cars Impulsion and City. In turn, Mega specializes in ultra-light commercial equipment - Multitruck and Worker. The latter is equipped with a fully electric power plant. It is also used in passenger cars City, which are released under the Axiam and Mega brands.

However, subcompacts were not always the focus of Aixam. From 1992 to 2000, the company's engineers were engaged in the development of the Mega Track sports car. The idea belonged to the then head of Aixam, Georges Blen. In fact, the Mega brand was created with the goal of diversifying the business, which was planned to include the direction of sports cars. Mega Track was distinguished by its gigantic size - over 5 meters in length and 2 meters in width. The weight of the car exceeded 2 tons. A V12 from the Mercedes-Benz S600 with a power of 395 hp was used as the power unit. Other notable features include a fuel tank with a volume of 110 liters. This was due to the already then immodest fuel consumption - at least 20 liters on the highway and up to 50 liters off-road. The ability to move on rough terrain was provided by a suspension with an adjustable ground clearance - up to 34 cm. In 2000, this monster under the control of Stéphane Peterhansel was able to become the second in the "Dakar Rally". However, this did not help the project to avoid failure. Only 6 copies were sold worldwide, two of which are now located in the Aixam headquarters. Nevertheless, the project did not disappear without a trace. Today, under the Mega brand, an electric crossover e-Scouty is being released with a ground clearance and layout from side-by-side quadricycles.
