Yokohama acquired a closed OTR tire plant in Romania
Yokohama Rubber announced that on May 22, 2025, it acquired land, equipment, and a building of a closed tire factory for specialized equipment in Romania through its subsidiary Yokohama TWS Romania S.R.L.
Not so long ago, Goodyear also acquired the OTR business, and the company notes that the goal of acquiring assets in Romania is to increase the production of tires for the mining and construction industries in Europe.
"This deal is a key element of the strategy aimed at expanding the range of tires for special equipment, as well as increasing production capacity for OTR tires of all categories, including for the mining and construction industry, which will allow the company to strengthen its position in the market and improve its competitiveness," Yokohama said.
The plant, formerly owned by Euro Tyre, is located in the city of Drobeta-Turnu Severin, and the area of the site is approximately 200,000 m2. The deal amount is $35 million.
