The Japanese edition of Nikkei has awarded the Nikkei Excellent Products and Services Awards for the 43rd time, which are awarded to innovative products and services from various fields.

In 2024, one of the winners was Sumitomo Rubber Industries, which received an award for the new all-season tire Dunlop Synchro Weather, which can "synchronize with weather conditions", increasing the level of safety throughout the year. Thanks to the Active Tread technology, the softness of the tread increases when in contact with water and a decrease in ambient temperature, while in hot weather, the stiffness is restored.

Dunlop Synchro Weather has already entered the Japanese market, and it is reported that sales have exceeded expectations, with an unprecedented number of pre-orders received even before the release of the novelty. A special certification has been introduced for dealers, and only companies that have met the manufacturer's requirements can sell the new tires.

In the future, the tires are planned to be presented on the markets of North America and Europe, and what's interesting is that Synchro Weather has received the right to the Ice Grip marking, meaning they have successfully passed tests not only on snow but also on ice. Previously, this marking was not provided not only for all-season but also for European-type winter tires, and it was only received by tires for the northern winter (Scandinavian type).

As the manufacturer claims, due to the fact that the rubber compound changes its properties, Synchro Weather surpasses summer tires (for example, Dunlop Enasave EC204) in terms of grip on wet asphalt, but at the same time, they are suitable for use on ice, unlike standard all-season tires (such as Dunlop All Season Maxx AS1).

In the popular size 195/65 R15, the recommended retail price of Dunlop Synchro Weather on the Japanese market is around 27,000 yen (18,500 rubles), which makes the new tires one of the most expensive in the brand's lineup.

Sumitomo has previously received awards from Nikkei, and in 2006, the prize was awarded to the Dunlop Enasave ES801 tire, which is 70% made from non-petroleum materials, and in 2007 - the Dunlop Veuro VE302 model of increased comfort, developed specifically for luxury cars.
