Hydrogen crossover Hyundai Nexo will be equipped with Hankook tires

The European version of the Hyundai Nexo hydrogen crossover comes with 18-inch summer tires Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 ev of the UHP class, which were specifically designed for vehicles with new energy sources, the tire manufacturer's press service reported.

The updated Nexo has a range of up to 720 km, and the Hankook tires for the European versions were developed in close cooperation with Hyundai and optimized to reduce rolling resistance, noise level, and improve stability.

Hankook notes that the supply of tires for the Nexo is significant, as it confirms that they have all the characteristics necessary for next-generation hydrogen mobility, and it is also important that the tires are installed on models for Europe - a market with one of the strictest energy efficiency and environmental standards in the world.

The reduction in rolling resistance was achieved through the use of the latest rubber compound, while the tread pattern is designed to provide confident traction on both dry and wet surfaces, and the construction uses aramid fibers, which, in combination with the reinforced bead area, improves handling, including at high speeds.

"With the new agreement, Hankook has strengthened its position as a key player in Hyundai Motor Group's future mobility initiatives," the tire company says. "Hankook tires have been approved for the flagship electric crossover Ioniq 9, the Ioniq 6 sedan, the Kia EV3 and EV9 crossovers, and now for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and the company has established itself as a leader in the development of technologies for new types of transport."

Hankook adds that it will continue to implement new innovations using its research infrastructure, which includes the Technodome technology center and the largest tire testing ground in Asia, Technoring.
