In Japan, the best tire novelties of the year were chosen
The automotive publication Nikkan Jidosha Shimbun has named the winners of its 37th award in the automotive component manufacturer segment. This time, the competition included products introduced to the Japanese market between April 2023 and June 2024, and the winners were selected based on a survey of retail sellers, evaluating both the popularity of new products among consumers and their importance for industry development, etc.
In the "Tires" category, the awards went to the Japanese division of Goodyear and the local company Sumitomo Rubber Industries.
Goodyear was awarded for its summer passenger tire Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, which was introduced in Japan last winter. The tires were developed in Europe and belong to the UHP category, meaning they can provide a high level of traction at high speeds. Additionally, engineers worked on reducing noise and rolling resistance, factors that have become even more important in recent years due to the growing popularity of electric vehicles.

Over time, Goodyear has managed to expand its tire size range in the Japanese market and release them in new sizes for sports cars such as the Subaru WRX STI and WRX S4, Mazda RX-7 (FD3S), Honda S2000, and Nissan Silvia.
In turn, Sumitomo received an award for its new Dunlop Sport Maxx RS tires, designed for use on both public roads and racing tracks, and developed to provide optimal control, including at very high speeds.

In all sizes, the new product received the highest "a" rating for wet traction according to the Japanese classification system, and the side wall design elements are made using Nano Black technology, which enhances the saturation of the black color. The tires are available in sizes with a rim diameter from 19 to 21 inches.
