Yokohama's Success in the Pikes Peak Race

The Japanese company Yokohama Rubber has once again successfully participated in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), which this year took place on Pikes Peak in Colorado (USA) for the 102nd time.

In the 2024 race, Yokohama's partners - Laura Hayes, Dani Sordo, David Donohue, and Cole Powellson - became the best in their classes, and overall, drivers on ADVAN sports tires took five out of ten first places in the general classification.

Hayes, who won the GT4 Trophy class at the wheel of the Toyota GR Supra GT4, set a new record among female pilots, climbing the mountain in 10 minutes 20.478 seconds. All drivers in the GT4 Trophy class use Yokohama tires, which is also its title sponsor.

"This Sunday was a great day not only for me but also for all women in motorsport," Hayes said. "I'm proud to have won the GT4 class, and the new record was a nice bonus. I know the record won't last long, as more and more women are taking on this challenge, and I'm looking forward to seeing who can do it next."

Another record of the "Race to the Clouds" and a victory in the class was scored by Dani Sordo, who won in the Exhibition category on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N TA Spec, equipped with Yokohama ADVAN A005 slicks, and showed a result of 9 minutes 30.852 seconds, becoming third in the overall standings. The record was set for modified electric cars, and in the Exhibition class, the other two podium places were taken by two more Hyundai pilots: Randy Pobst and Ron Zaras, the latter also setting a record for serial electric crossovers - 10 minutes 49.267 seconds - on Yokohama ADVAN Sport V107 tires.

David Donohue on his Porsche 911 Turbo R, equipped with ADVAN A005 tires, won the Time Attack 1 class, which he did for the third time in a row. His result was 9 minutes 49.249 seconds. In addition, Cole Powellson, driving a single-seater Sierra Echo A-Spec on 13-inch ADVAN A005 tires, took first place in the Open Wheel category.
