Turkey's Antimonopoly Regulator (Rekabet Kurumu) has launched an investigation into 17 companies involved in the production and distribution of tires. Previously, it was reported that the investigation was being conducted against Brisa (a joint venture between Bridgestone and Sabanci Holding), and recently it became known that such manufacturers as Goodyear, Hankook, Michelin, Pirelli, and Prometeon, as well as a number of local trading companies, are also suspected of violating Turkish law.

According to the antimonopoly authority, a preliminary check was carried out, and as a result, it was decided to launch a full-scale investigation. The regulator will check whether the players in the tire market have violated the law on such points as creating a cartel agreement, controlling supplies to the market, and other actions to restrict competition.
