Kumho tires are approved for Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb
Kumho Tire has become a supplier of tires for the Volkswagen Passat, the first mid-size car to sell over 30 million units, and the Skoda Superb, the flagship sedan from the Czech brand (also owned by the Volkswagen Group), which also enjoys stable popularity in the market, the tire manufacturer's press service reported.
For both models, the Kumho Ecsta HS52 tires (in the size of 215/60 R16) were homologated, featuring an asymmetric tread pattern designed to improve safety on both dry and wet roads and including wide water channels that reduce the risk of aquaplaning.

Ecsta HS52 is produced using a rubber compound containing a combination of special resins, high-dispersion silica, and functionalized polymers, which not only enhances grip in various weather conditions but also increases tire durability, while the variable tread pitch improves acoustic comfort.
In 2024, the HS52 took third place in the ADAC tests, one of the most authoritative organizations conducting tire tests. Additionally, according to the results of a large test by Auto Bild, in which several dozen tires participated, Kumho shared fourth place with Goodyear.
“The Volkswagen and Skoda brands are gaining increasing popularity both in our country and abroad, and the supply of tires for their new cars confirms the high quality of Kumho Tire products,” noted Kim In Su, sales director of the Kumho Tire OE division. “In the future, we intend to continue expanding tire supplies to global premium car manufacturers.”
Kumho also equips other Volkswagen models, such as the Jetta, Taos, and ID.4, and the Ecsta HS52 has recently also been included in the equipment of the VW Multivan minivan.
