The process of seasonal tire replacement is smoothly starting. In some cases, the summer tires that car owners "transplant" to are not suitable for operation. The logic in such situations is often as follows: "It's not winter, there's no snow and ice, so you can put on tires with maximum wear. There's rubber, and that's good." Of course, this is not the case. Today we will analyze the signs that give clear signals that the tires need to be changed urgently, and the tread depth can be significantly higher than the allowed 1.6 mm for summer tires. 

Aquaplaning.
Recently we wrote about the fact that even new tires with excellent characteristics start to float on a flooded road at a speed close to 80 km/h or less. Of course, a lot depends on the thickness of the water film on the road, but we mostly drive on not new tires. If you feel that when entering a puddle with both wheels at the same time, the steering wheel starts to wobble from side to side, it means that there are moments when the tires alternately lose traction. Try to determine the speed at which this occurs. If the speed at which you feel the steering wheel wobbling on a flooded road is below 50 km/h, then the tires need to be changed urgently.  

Squealing during turns.
The squeal of tires when passing turns or performing other maneuvers is always a loss of traction. We wrote about this earlier. Despite the fact that many associate squealing with high, sports characteristics, this is not the case. Possibly, such associations arise because it can often be encountered in racing. But even there, squealing means a loss of traction between the tires and the road. If your tires have started to "squeal", it's essential to understand under what circumstances and at what speed this happens. If you notice that this occurs during smooth turns at a speed of 50-60 km/h, then this is also a sure sign that the tires need to be replaced with new ones. 

Skidding.
Skidding of one of the axles often depends on the condition of the tires. That's why it's crucial to perform timely tire rotation and put tires with the least wear on the rear axle, regardless of the type of vehicle transmission. But even following these rules, skidding will become more frequent. It's essential to determine what kind of skidding it is. If you feel that when braking on a straight section, the car starts to skid, and the difference in residual tread depth does not exceed 1.5 mm, this is often a sentence for the entire set. The reason is that the tires cannot handle the redistribution of the vehicle's weight during braking, and this is a sure sign that the entire set needs to be changed.
