Stud failure. Defect?
A logical continuation of the topic about studded tires would be the topic about stud breakage. For many car owners, this damage is unequivocally associated with a factory defect, but that's not the case.
In one of our articles, we detailed the reasons for the wear of anti-skid studs. Breakage is one of the consequences of this wear. The stud body becomes so depleted and weakened that during a sharp maneuver or braking, the stud can come out or break. Everything depends on how securely it is fixed in the thickness of the tire tread.
Hence, a direct connection is obtained - the better the studs are fixed in the tread, the higher the probability that they will break, not get lost.
Hence, there is an answer to the question of many car owners: "Why did the studs only get lost before, and now they also break?". The answer is obvious, manufacturers annually try to fix the studs in the tread as securely as possible. At the same time, it becomes clear that along with these improvements, it would be worthwhile to improve the quality of communication with customers so that there is no information vacuum, and buyers do not take the replacement of loss with a stud break as a production defect.
