Apollo Tyres has announced the launch of new summer tires Vredestein Comtrac 2+, specifically designed for light trucks and vans, and, as claimed by the manufacturer, optimized for improved durability, handling, and fuel efficiency.

In comparison to its predecessor, the new tire's lifespan has been increased by 13% thanks to a fourth-generation rubber compound created using the latest technologies, the company says, adding that the high mileage will allow for a reduction in the number of tire replacements and lower fleet expenses. Additionally, the increased durability reduces microplastic emissions during tire wear, thereby decreasing the environmental impact.

The Comtrac 2+ also features a reinforced sidewall area, which improves stability, including under high loads and temperatures, while the carcass and sidewall design has been improved to reduce the risk of tire failure and vehicle downtime. To improve traction on wet roads, high-dispersion silica has been added to the rubber compound, which, together with the new tread pattern, increases resistance to aquaplaning.

To increase the tire's resource, new materials have been used, and thanks to a 7% reduction in rolling resistance, the new Vredestein tires are able to improve energy efficiency, which is especially important in the segment of electric and hybrid vehicles. Additionally, the Comtrac 2+ meets the requirements of the European EUDR standard, which will prohibit the supply of goods whose production is associated with deforestation or degradation of forest resources.

"In creating the Comtrac 2+, we aimed to meet the changing needs of commercial vehicle owners, whether they are independent specialists or managers of large fleets," noted Ivo Poulik, Vice President of the Truck Tires division of Apollo in EMEA. "As a result, our development team has presented a tire with an increased tread life, reduced rolling resistance, and the ability to improve safety and comfort levels - all at an affordable price."

The Vredestein Comtrac 2+ will enter the European market in January 2026, and the lineup will include two dozen sizes from 195/70 R15C to 235/60 R17C, some of which will have increased load capacity and XL marking. In the EU labeling system, the new tire has received a B-D rating for economy, an A rating for wet grip, and a B rating for noise. The 3PMSF symbol is not available for the tires, meaning they are not suitable for northern winter conditions.
