Pirelli currently has no plans to make investments in the USA

In Pirelli, they commented on media reports that due to the introduction of new import duties in the US, the company intends to invest in increasing its capacity in the country. The Pirelli statement emphasizes that plans to increase capacity were known earlier, but so far no decisions have been made in this regard, which is due to the presence of certain obstacles caused by management and shareholder structure issues.

Not so long ago, Pirelli's Executive Vice Chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera stated that the company is considering significant investments in the US to increase production capacity.

Pirelli serves the American market mainly through supplies from plants in Mexico, South America, and Europe, although the company has a production site in Georgia.

The obstacles mentioned in Pirelli's statement are related to the fact that the manufacturer is controlled by the Chinese holding company Sinochem, while Washington has decided to limit the use of technologies from Chinese companies in "smart" cars. In the case of Pirelli, we are talking about "smart" Cyber Tyre tires.

The media reported that in order to avoid damage to the business in the US, Italian investors may try to limit Sinochem's influence on Pirelli's management, including possible reduction of the Chinese holding company's stake.
