The qualifying round of the big test of winter tires from Auto Bild — 2025

Auto Bild has announced the results of the qualifying stage of its next big test of winter tires, in which this time more than 50 models in the size 225/40 R18 took part. To proceed to the main part of the test, the tires had to stop the car quickly enough on wet asphalt and snow, and the first place in the qualification was taken by Dunlop Winter, which together with 19 other tires was able to pass the qualifying round.

The most effective braking on snow was noted in Kleber Krisalp HP3, and on wet pavement - in Goodyear UltraGrip Performance 3, while among budget tires, Linglong Sport Master Winter from a Chinese company made it to the main test.

10 tires received the status of not recommended due to weak braking properties on wet asphalt (so weak that they were not allowed to test on snow), and all of them are models of the economy class of Asian production, and the last place was taken by Windforce Snowblazer UHPe.

Braking on wet pavement and snow was carried out respectively from 80 and 50 km/h. All tires had load and speed indices of 92V.
