Features of Autumn Roads

The autumn period can be a challenge for drivers due to changing weather conditions and road conditions. It is autumn that drivers should be most vigilant, as nothing has changed in the car, while their operating environment is changing rapidly. First of all, the contact patch loses stability. In addition to the increased precipitation on the roads, there can be a large number of fallen leaves, which can also significantly increase the braking distance.

After an unusually large amount of precipitation last summer, it is worth expecting increased precipitation in autumn. Therefore, it is essential to assess your tires for residual tread depth. If the tread depth of your summer tires is less than 3 mm, you should replace them with winter tires now, despite our previous recommendation not to do so too early.
If the tread depth is in order, you should not forget to follow the recommended pressure, as insufficient tire pressure can lead to a sharp increase in the likelihood of aquaplaning. Be vigilant and increase your usual distance by 15-20%. Try to avoid driving with cars that do not maintain a safe distance from you.

In addition to tires, you should pay attention to the condition and operation of the spare wheel, windshield wipers, fog lights, and battery. It will also be useful to fill in the windshield washer fluid, designed for small freezes, say up to -5C. In this case, you will be maximally prepared for a sharp deterioration in road conditions.
