A recall of over 11 thousand all-season Kumho tires has been announced

The American division of Kumho is initiating a voluntary recall of 11,169 all-season passenger tires Kumho Solus TA11 in size 225/60 R16, which were produced from the 4th week of 2021 to the 5th week of 2023 at the plant in Gwangju (South Korea).

A potential problem with Kumho was reported to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), after which the manufacturer conducted an investigation and confirmed that during intense use, the tread may delaminate, creating a risk of an accident.

However, Kumho acknowledged that they have not identified the exact cause of the defect, only stating that the tires' properties may deteriorate due to storage conditions. According to the company's estimates, 10% of the tires in the recalled batch do not meet quality standards.
