The new Renault Twingo is equipped with Continental tires
Continental announced that the Renault Twingo electric car of the latest generation is equipped with 18-inch Continental EcoContact 7 tires as standard equipment worldwide, which have received the highest ratings for fuel efficiency and noise level according to the European labeling system.
High energy efficiency is achieved due to a special rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology, which means that new materials reducing internal friction and rolling resistance are used in the manufacture of the carcass, hermetic layer, and sidewalls. In addition to this, special recesses (Aerodimple technology) borrowed from golf balls are located in the tire sidewalls, reducing air turbulence behind the tire. This requires less energy to move and increases the range of the electric vehicle.

Particular attention was also paid to improving acoustic comfort, for which a new tread pattern called Silent Pattern was developed. According to Continental, the developers optimized the voids between the blocks and the angles of the groove arrangement to reduce noise in the frequencies that usually occur when driving at low speeds in city traffic. This makes the ride more comfortable and also reduces noise pollution in cities.
The company adds that reducing rolling resistance, necessary for increasing the range, and reducing rolling noise for improved comfort, are key requirements that car manufacturers currently impose on electric vehicle tires, and EcoContact 7 fully meets them.
For the Twingo, the tires are supplied in size 205/45 R18 with an reinforced construction (XL) and rim protection.
