Nokian is releasing new winter tires under the Nordman brand

While in Russia, tires under the Nordman brand are now being released by Ikon Tyres (Nordman tires will be replaced by Ikon Character), owned by "Tatneft" and operating on the former Nokian Tyres facilities in Vsevolozhsk, the Finnish concern itself also continues to develop the line of its second-tier brand, and in the new winter season, three models for passenger and light commercial vehicles were added to it.

As always, the tread patterns were "inherited" from the models of the title brand, and one of the novelties was the friction winter Nordman North RS3 with a design from the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 tire (its analogue in Russia is now the Ikon Autograph Snow 3), presented in 2018. In the brand's lineup, it joins the studded Nordman North 9.

From the "senior" model, the tire received an aggressive tread pattern oriented to improve traction on snow and ice, which is also contributed by "snow claws" and a special rubber compound. In addition, patented "pump" lamellas that remove water from the contact area and increase the level of safety on wet surfaces are located in the central zone.

Nordman North RS3 is available in 14 sizes from 185/65 R15 to 255/45 R19. A version for crossovers and SUVs, the Nordman North RS3 SUV, is also available, offered in seven sizes from 215/65 R16 to 255/50 R20.

Nokian has also introduced two new light commercial winter tires under the Nordman brand - the friction Nordman North CR and the studded Nordman North C. The first one has a tread pattern from the Nokian Hakkapeliitta CR3 tires, released in 2014 (analog - Ikon Autograph Snow C3), which, according to the company, provides reliable traction both on icy city intersections and on snowy rural roads.

Since the North CR is designed for commercial transport, the construction has been strengthened, which should allow the tires to withstand increased loads, including when operating in harsh conditions, while the rubber compound is optimized to improve durability while maintaining elasticity at low temperatures. The lineup includes four sizes from 195/70 R15C to 235/65 R16C.

In turn, the Nordman North C tire has a tread pattern from the Nokian Hakkapeliitta C3 model, also presented ten years ago, and is designed for the harshest conditions of the northern winter.

According to the manufacturer, special attention was paid to the reliability of the stud retention in the tread, thanks to which a high level of traction is maintained even during intensive operation, while the strengthened construction makes the North C more durable and reliable. The tires are also available in four sizes from 195/70 R15C to 235/65 R16C.
