On Pirelli tires a new record of the "Nurburgring" was set

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the Manthey Kit package has set a new record in the category of production electric vehicles at the German Nürburgring circuit, completing a lap in 6 minutes 55 seconds. The car was equipped with specially developed semi-slick tires Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS, which, according to the company, helped increase the level of grip and "save precious seconds on the most difficult racing track in the world". In 2023, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach showed a result of 7 minutes 7.5 seconds, and the tires for the new record holder are made using Elect technology and are designed to improve dynamics when used on electric cars. Compared to the standard tires for the Turbo GT, the width of the front and rear semi-slicks was increased by 4 and 3 cm, respectively.

In Pirelli, it is noted that the new achievement "confirms the status of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS as the best track tires", and they were initially developed for the standard equipment of supercars and hypercars, and are now available in special versions for various Porsche cars, such as the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS. The tires are also offered on the secondary market, and the manufacturer claims that they are optimally suited to maximize the potential of sports cars, and although the model is designed for the racing track, it can also be used on public roads.

For the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the Manthey Kit, the first serial tires on the market were developed, 50% of which are made from recycled and biologically sourced materials, as indicated by a special logo on the sidewalls. In addition, the used natural rubber is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which should guarantee responsible supply chain management from the plantation to the factory.

Not so long ago, the Tyre Reviews portal recognized the P Zero Trofeo RS as the "best among the fastest tires in the world", specially noting their excellent characteristics on dry pavement and ability to stably maintain their characteristics. Experts from the Auto Bild magazine also named Pirelli the best tires for the racing track, assigning them a rating of "Exemplary" based on the results of a test of five semi-slicks.

Since their premiere, the tires have helped set several Nürburgring records, and there were three of them last year alone: for electric cars, compact cars (for the first time, a time of less than 7 minutes 30 seconds was shown) and station wagons.
