Krasnoyarsk Tire Plant on the verge of bankruptcy
The only plant in Eastern Siberia and the Far East for the production of automotive and aviation tires — the Krasnoyarsk Tire Plant — is currently experiencing not the best of times. It has huge debts, and an investigation has been launched against the management on suspicion of financial fraud.
As noted by the newspaper "AIF in Yenisei", the plant's problems started with purely labor issues: Krasnoyarsk tires were uncompetitive. In 2006, the Krasnoyarsk Tire Plant changed its owner. It became Igor Shamko. An agreement on cooperation with the regional administration was signed, and there were prerequisites for the revival of production. The plant began to take out loans under the guarantee of the Krasnoyarsk Territory administration for new equipment.
However, two years later, the situation again reached a deadlock. The workers stopped being paid, layoffs began, old equipment was sold, and new equipment was not purchased for unknown reasons. All this led to the plant's stagnation.
In July 2009, it became known that Igor Shamko had made a number of attempts to withdraw the plant's main assets through certain shell companies. At the same time, a fictitious creditor debt of 800 million rubles was created. In essence, Igor Shamko was engaged in "money laundering". Now, three years later, these financial machinations have surfaced, and as a result, the issue of initiating a criminal case against Igor Shamko and the general director of the Krasnoyarsk Tire Plant, Oleg Deeve, is being resolved.
Recall that the production of tires at the Krasnoyarsk Tire Plant was launched in February 1960. The best indicator of the number of tires produced was in 1993, when 2 million 112 thousand tires were produced.
