Kontio presented a new vintage tire
At the Autopromotec 2025 exhibition in Bologna, Italy, Finnish Kontio Tyres presented its latest novelty - the Kontio WhitePaw Vintage tire with white stripes on the sidewall, specially designed for owners and restorers of classic cars, allowing, as the company says, to maintain the authentic appearance of the vehicle without sacrificing modern safety and comfort levels.
In creating the WhitePaw Vintage, the classic design of diagonal tires with wavy tread grooves and ribbed shoulder areas, commonly referred to as "pie crust", was recreated, but the novelty has a radial structure and is capable of increasing safety and smoothness of ride, as well as being more durable compared to diagonal type tires.
In the first stage, two sizes will be released: 6.70R15 for classic American cars of the 1950s, such as the Chevrolet Bel Air and Corvette C1; and 6.00R16, intended for cars from Chevrolet, Ford, and Dodge of the 1930s and 1940s, as well as for sports cars of the 1950s from Ferrari, Jaguar, etc. Sales will begin in September.

According to Kontio's CEO, Jukka Heiskanen, the new tires "have generated enormous interest from dealers and car enthusiasts around the world". "We have received a fantastic response to the fact that we can offer tires with white sidewalls that not only perfectly fit classic cars but also meet all modern requirements", he said, adding that "the combination of advanced technology and competitive prices has significantly contributed to the development of the company".
Over the past year, Kontio has attended several leading international automotive exhibitions, such as SEMA in Las Vegas, Automechanika in Dubai, and Tyrexpo in Singapore, and several years ago, the company drew attention from the industry by releasing the IcePaw tire with a record number of studs - 270 pieces in size 205/55 R16.
