The Peugeot Polygon concept is equipped with "smart" Goodyear tires

For the concept car Peugeot Polygon, which represents the "future of intelligent mobility", "smart" tires Goodyear were prepared, made using the SightLine technology package, first integrated directly into the car's dashboard.

SightLine is a patented Goodyear complex of technologies that provide the driver with various data on the condition of the tires and road conditions in real time, increasing the level of safety. The information can be displayed directly on the display in the cabin, as well as used by the onboard computer, and, for example, the tire wear control system allows vehicles to automatically change their settings depending on the wear of the tire tread, which should provide optimal handling and safety characteristics throughout their life cycle.

"Smart" tires are also able to identify and predict the risks of aquaplaning, helping the car's systems to respond quickly and maintain the necessary grip in difficult conditions. In addition, there is a possibility of integration with the electronic Drive-by-Wire control system developed by Peugeot, and now SightLine tires are already available on several world markets, which means this is not just a concept, but a proven effective system ready for operation in the real world.

"SightLine is not just a technology, it's a reflection of the concept of connected mobility," said Ben Glezener, Senior Technical Director of the Tire Development Department for the consumer sector at Goodyear EMEA. "As part of our partnership with Peugeot, we are creating an ecosystem where tires become an active component of the car's intelligent systems."

According to the designers' idea, the Peugeot Polygon can have three configurations: Urban for city streets, the more sporty Player, as well as the Explorer with a raised suspension and protective elements, and Goodyear has prepared separate tires for all three options, taking into account their visual and operational features. So, the tires for the first two versions received a pattern from the models of the sports Eagle F1 family, which this year celebrates its 45th anniversary, and for the Explorer, tires were developed whose design is inspired by the patterns of the Wrangler series and is designed to increase grip off-road. In addition, to "visually reflect the new era of automotive innovation", engravings of different colors are applied to the sidewalls using a laser, depending on the car's configuration.
