Kenda presented new tires for electric vehicles and commercial transport

Taiwan-based company Kenda has introduced two new tires: the Kenda Emera 616EV, specifically designed for electric vehicles, and the Kenda Komendo 3, intended for use on commercial vehicles such as the Toyota Town Ace and CMS J Ace microbuses.

The Kenda Emera 616EV is made with a new rubber compound that has hydrophilic properties, which the manufacturer claims enhances grip on wet roads while also reducing rolling resistance and increasing the range of electric cars. Additionally, the wide longitudinal grooves are designed to prevent hydroplaning in rainy conditions, and the closed design of the inner shoulder reduces noise levels, which is also aided by the variable pitch tread pattern. The tire's contact patch has been optimized to improve pressure distribution and increase tread life, and the ride comfort has also been improved through the use of a compound with increased durability.

Since electric vehicles are characterized by increased weight and torque, the new Kenda tires have been equipped with a reinforced carcass construction, while the sloping walls of the grooves in the shoulder areas reduce the braking distance and increase the contact area, making wear more even, and the interconnected blocks increase the stiffness of the tread and improve handling.

The Kenda Emera 616EV is available in 10 sizes, ranging from 225/55 R18 to 255/40ZR20.

For the commercial tire Kenda Komendo 3, a new rubber compound has also been developed, with a focus on reducing heat generation and increasing durability. Furthermore, the design of the longitudinal channels has been improved to accelerate water drainage, and special stone ejectors have been placed in them, the construction of the sidewall area has been reinforced for additional strength, and the closed shoulder areas reduce noise and improve acoustic comfort.

The tires are available in two sizes: 195/75 R16C and 205/75 R16C.
