The Kaluga plant of Gislaved received a regional award
The Gislaved tire plant in Kaluga, formerly owned by Continental and now part of Cordiant, has won the "Made in Kaluga Region" category of the "Kaluga Business - 2025" award, which is awarded for "significant contribution to the development of the region's industrial potential and the production of high-tech products", the company reports.
"Winning this prestigious award is the result of an independent assessment by the Kaluga business community of our enterprise's work," said Pavel Borodatov, director of the plant. "This recognition confirms that our plant remains a significant part of the region's industrial landscape and makes a significant contribution to its economic development".
The award has been presented for the ninth time, and the winners are chosen by a jury consisting of representatives of businesses and regional authorities, as well as experts in various fields.
Currently, the Kaluga site of Gislaved employs over a thousand employees, and the production meets international standards such as ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management), ISO 45001:2018 (occupational health and safety) and ISO 50001:2018 (energy management).
The company reported that during a recent audit, certification experts "highly appreciated the effective team work and the company's constant striving for process optimization", and special attention is paid to quality control: each tire undergoes multi-stage testing using laser scanners and X-ray machines, and electronic RFID tags allow for product identification at all stages of production.
The company's long-term strategy involves expanding capacity, entering international markets, increasing efficiency, introducing new technologies, and digital transformation, says Cordiant, adding that equipment modernization, water reuse, and regular internal audits have allowed the plant to reduce electricity and heat costs by 13% and 12%, respectively, from 2021 to 2024, and reduce CO2 emissions by 12.6 thousand tons.
Currently, the enterprise produces summer and winter tires under the Gislaved brand (over 300 items), including the new products of the 2025/2026 season: the studded IceControl and the friction ArcticControl.
