Kaluga tire plant has produced its 30-millionth tire

The Gislaved plant in Kaluga has celebrated the release of its 30 millionth tire, which is the studded Gislaved One W - the new flagship of the brand's winter line, fully developed by Cordiant specialists, whose market launch is scheduled for autumn 2026.

The Kaluga plant launched mass production in 2013 and then belonged to Continental, and Cordiant resumed the operation of the enterprise in 2025 after almost three years of forced downtime. More than 200 units of equipment were "inherited" from the former owner, which continues to be used for the production of premium products. The plant employs about 1,000 people, and the lineup includes Gislaved and Torero tires. The range includes 293 sizes (SKU) with a diameter from 14 inches, and the capacity is 3 million tires per year - last year, 1.2 million units of products were produced.

Each tire passes through a multi-stage quality control with the use of laser scans and X-ray machines, and the processes comply with international standards ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management), ISO 45001:2018 (labor protection) and ISO 50001:2018 (ecology, safety and energy efficiency).

According to Cordiant's General Director Dmitry Gorbachev, in 2017-2021, the plant was considered the best site for the production of passenger tires Continental in the world. "The plant maintains this bar today, producing tires under the significant premium segment brand Gislaved," he emphasized. "In 2025, retail sales of passenger tires of this brand grew by 26%. We apply advanced practices, set trends and respond to the current requests of car owners."

The plant also houses a branch of the scientific and technical Intair, which accelerates the process of creating and launching new tire models. The company says that the NTC unit "was formed on the basis of the R&D of the Russian Continental plant, which allowed us to preserve the traditions of the engineering school of one of the leaders of the global tire market and successfully apply them in the production of premium Gislaved tires."

The Governor of the Kaluga Region, Vladislav Shapsha, took part in the ceremonial event dedicated to the release of the anniversary tire, noting that "the release of the 30 millionth tire by the Kaluga Gislaved plant is an impressive result of 13 years of work." "The enterprise is one of the largest in our region, provides about a thousand jobs and, importantly, looks to the future, including conducting vocational guidance work with young people," the governor added.

The studded Gislaved One W, designed for both passenger cars and large SUVs and crossovers, will be produced in sizes from 16 to 22 inches, and production will be carried out in Kaluga, as well as in Ulyanovsk, at the former Bridgestone plant.
