Ikon Tyres marked the 20th anniversary of the factory in Vsevolozhsk

On September 22, 2025, Ikon Tyres celebrated the 20th anniversary of the plant in Vsevolozhsk, which has produced around 150 tire models over the past period, becoming one of the leading tire enterprises in the country.

The history of the plant began in 2004, when the Finnish Nokian Tyres decided to localize production in Russia. In June 2005, the first premium-class tires under the Nokian brand were manufactured in the Leningrad region, and in September of the same year, the official opening of the enterprise took place. In 2006, the second production stage was launched, and a warehouse and a rubber mixing workshop were opened, which turned the plant into a full-cycle enterprise.

In 2008, in response to market demand, the production of mid-range tires under the Nordman brand was launched. In 2017, the plant's capacity was increased to 17 million tires per year, and the jubilee 100-millionth tire was produced. In 2021, a new automated warehouse for finished products was put into operation, capable of storing up to 550,000 tires.

In 2022, Nokian announced its departure from Russia, and the new owner of the plant became the Tatneft group of companies, which began rebranding the enterprise and its product line. As a result, the plant was named Ikon Tyres, and premium and mid-range tires were renamed Ikon Autograph and Ikon Character, respectively. At the same time, the company emphasized that only the names had changed, while everything else, including production technologies, rubber compound recipes, tread patterns, and quality control, remained the same as under the previous owner.

To develop new products, an in-house research and development department was created, which included experts with many years of experience in both Russian and international companies. Thanks to this, in 2024, 32 new products were added to the range, and in 2025, 270 more were added, which the company calls unprecedented growth. Currently, the size range of Ikon tires allows covering 93% of the Russian car fleet (according to last year's data) and can also be installed on 99% of cars produced in the last two years.

In June 2025, the first winter tires Ikon Autograph Ice 10 and Ikon Autograph Snow 5 were presented, which are available in 104 sizes with a diameter from 16 to 20 inches.

"For 20 years, we have been creating the future together, carefully preserving the accumulated expertise and approaches to production of international class. At the same time, we are not standing still - we are actively developing materials and recipes, design approaches and design solutions," emphasized Andrey Pantiukhov, General Director of Ikon Tyres and Head of the Tire Division of Tatneft. "With each new product, we reach a new level of traction and safety. All this allows us to create high-quality and reliable tires that are trusted by millions of car owners."

Currently, the plant in Vsevolozhsk occupies an area of over 500,000 m2 and is one of the most modern in Russia and Europe, with a staff of over 1,400 employees with an average tenure of over 10 years.

With a nominal capacity of 17 million tires per year, the Ikon enterprise is the largest tire plant in Russia, and its range includes winter and summer tires for passenger cars, SUVs, and commercial vehicles. In addition to Ikon, the tire division of Tatneft also includes Birinchi Rezinotexnika Zavodi (Uzbekistan) and Tengri Tyres (Kazakhstan), which produce budget tires under the Bars and Attar brands, respectively.
