Goodyear has equipped the luxury SUV Yangwang U8L with its tires

Goodyear has been chosen as the tire supplier for the Yangwang U8L, the extended version of the full-size luxury SUV from BYD, which is the Chinese brand's flagship model in this segment.

A bespoke version of the Goodyear ElectricDrive tire, with a diameter of 23 inches, bearing the HL rating and featuring increased load-carrying capacity compared to XL-rated tires, has been developed for the U8L. According to Nathaniel Madarang, President of Goodyear's Asia Pacific region, the Yangwang is being supplied with the first 23-inch HL tires designed and manufactured in Asia.

Tire production is taking place at Goodyear's facilities in China, and the company says the partnership with BYD "reinforces the tire manufacturer's status as a key strategic partner for automakers in the era of automotive electrification and drives technological advancements in mobility."

"We continue to introduce technological innovations in the luxury, SUV, and electric vehicle tire segments, and our tires combine excellent traction with low noise and high comfort, meeting the diverse expectations of discerning buyers," Madarang noted, adding that the partnership with BYD "fully demonstrates Goodyear's technological capabilities and brand leadership in the luxury vehicle tire market."
