Giti released new fuel-efficient tires for regional transportation

Giti Tire has released the first commercial tires from its new EVO line, which will include models that provide fuel savings through reduced rolling resistance. The new Giti GSR237EVO tires are designed for the steering axle and have received a "B" rating for fuel efficiency under the EU labeling system, whereas the previous generation Giti GSR237 tire belonged to class "C". At the same time, the rating of the Giti GDR675EVO tires for the drive axle has been improved from "D" to "C" compared to the Giti GDR675. Both new products received an "A" rating for external noise level.

The new Giti tires are part of the Combi Road tire family for regional transportation, and the reduction in rolling resistance was made possible by the use of low-hysteresis rubber compounds and advanced vulcanization technology, which also reduces hysteresis and fuel consumption. The development was led by specialists from Giti's European Research and Development Center in Hannover, Germany.

The tires have an optimized tread pattern that improves even wear and retreadability, and the new products are also among the first Giti models on the European market to be equipped with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, which allow for the retrieval of information about all stages of the tire's life cycle. Both previous generation tires will remain in the brand's lineup.

According to Antonio Palummo, Senior Manager of Giti's Truck Tire Division, products with the EVO designation were launched to make it easy for fleets to identify regional haul tires with low rolling resistance.

"The Giti GSR237EVO and Giti GDR675EVO, which were initially presented at The Tire Cologne 2024, are the first products from the new line, and tests have shown that they are extremely effective in any road conditions," he noted, adding that in the long-haul segment, fuel-efficient tires are marked with the Eco Road designation.

The GSR237EVO tires are available on the market in sizes 315/70R22.5, 385/55R22.5, and 385/65R22.5, while the GDR675EVO tires are available in size 315/70R22.5.
