Giti launches new fuel-efficient tires for trucks
Giti Tire has announced that the company's first truck tires to receive the highest A rating for rolling resistance in the European market under the EU labeling system will be the long-haul Giti GDL272 Ecoroad for the drive axle, which are already available for order. In the fourth quarter, they will be joined by the Giti GSL271 Ecoroad and Giti GTL273 Ecoroad tires for the steer and trailer axles, respectively, which belong to the same fuel efficiency class, and all three new products will be unveiled for the first time at The Tire Cologne 2026 in Cologne.
The entire new line has been developed from scratch, and the tires are made from a state-of-the-art silica-reinforced rubber compound that reduces hysteresis and heat generation, resulting in lower energy losses and fuel consumption. In addition, the compound has been optimized to provide high traction, including on wet roads, and optimal durability.
The tires have undergone field testing in one of the major European fleets to confirm their effectiveness in real-world conditions, and the development was carried out under the guidance of specialists from Giti's European Technical Center in Hanover, Germany.
As noted by Antonio Palumbo, Senior Manager of the Truck Tire Development and Technical Service Department at Giti in Europe, the release of the first truck tires with an A rating for fuel efficiency in the local market is "a huge step forward for the brand". "The task of the new line is to help fleets minimize their carbon footprint by reducing energy consumption, and the premiere of Giti GDL272 Ecoroad will allow us to contribute to the development of eco-friendly mobility," he added.
According to a Giti representative, the company has been striving from the outset to create a product that would be comparable in its properties to tires from leading premium manufacturers, and "independent tests have shown that the characteristics of our tires are either comparable to or better than those of premium products".
Giti GDL272 Ecoroad tires are available in size 315/70 R22.5, while Giti GSL271 Ecoroad and Giti GTL273 Ecoroad tires will be released in sizes 315/70 R22.5 and 385/55 R22.5, respectively.
