Giti participates in the Goodwood Festival of Speed

In mid-July, one of the most significant events in the global automotive industry took place in Britain—the Goodwood Festival of Speed—and in 2026, the Chinese hypercar Yangwang U9X made its way up the famous hill, equipped with tyres developed by Giti.

During the hill climb, the U9X was fitted with semi-slick tyres, which the company claims are the world's only tyres for electric hypercars capable of withstanding speeds of up to 500 km/h. An exclusive rubber compound was developed to maximize grip, while a high-strength carcass construction enhances stability at high speeds, including in challenging road conditions. Additionally, an optimized tread drainage channel design allows the tyres to perform effectively on both dry and wet surfaces, the company notes.

Using data gathered during testing, Giti also increased the tyres' impact resistance and improved feedback precision—achievements made possible by new structural materials, as well as optimized tyre profile and load distribution in the contact patch.

The company stated that the Goodwood course, approximately 1.86 km long, is particularly challenging due to constant inclines, uneven surfaces, and the potential for wet sections. Therefore, a high-performance vehicle like the U9X—with its instant torque delivery—required tyres capable of ensuring stable grip and high resistance to lateral drift at extreme speeds.

"At this new stage of automotive industry transformation, Giti Tire continues to enhance product performance through innovative technologies, prove the competitiveness of its tyres under extreme conditions, expand collaboration with global partners, and contribute to the industry's advancement," the company said.
