For the Leapmotor C16 crossover, Yokohama tires have been approved
Yokohama Rubber announced that it has become a tire supplier for the recently introduced 3-row crossover Leapmotor C16, which has become the new flagship model of the Chinese brand and is "in high demand, making it the current bestseller in the Leapmotor lineup", which will help the company continue to increase sales in the second half of 2024, the tire manufacturer's press service reported.
For the C16, summer tires Yokohama ADVAN Sport EV V108 were homologated in sizes 245/45 R21 for the front and 255/45 R21 for the rear axle, which were adapted for operation on hybrids and electric vehicles, i.e., in particular, they have reduced rolling resistance, which improves energy consumption efficiency, and reduced noise levels. In addition, wide grooves accelerate water drainage, and at Yokohama, they add that "thanks to the unique silica dispersion technology, rolling resistance has been reduced, the tire life has been increased, and an ideal balance between energy efficiency and optimal wet road performance has been achieved".

ADVAN Sport EV V108 has also become the first tire to receive the "E+" marking, indicating that the model has been refined taking into account the high torque of electric vehicles and can withstand increased loads. In the future, the same marking will be used for all Yokohama tires optimized for use on hybrid and electric vehicles, and in 2024, it appeared on the sidewalls of commercial/bus tires from the Japanese company.

Yokohama's Chinese division was established in November 2005, and the company currently owns four tire and RTI manufacturing plants in the country. In July 2024, it was announced that a new plant with a capacity of 9 million passenger tires per year will be built in China, with an investment of 1.96 billion yuan (280 million dollars).
