Continental has become the sole owner of Sime Tyre

The Continental company has become the full owner of Sime Tyre, having bought the remaining 30% of its shares from Sime Darby Products Berhad. Thus, Continental became the owner of 100% of the shares, and Sime Tyre became a subsidiary of Continental.

The new company will supply the Malaysian market with car tires from two plants. The first one is located in Petaling Jaya - its work covers the sector of tires for trucks, buses and agricultural machinery. The second plant is located in Alor Star - it is engaged in the production of passenger and light truck tires.

The first plant has existed since 1963. It was opened by the Dunlop company. In 1985, it was acquired by Sime Tyre. The second one was commissioned in 1979 as IT International Sdn., and in 1986 it became a subsidiary of PSD Holdings Sdn. Bhd., which is part of the leading Malaysian conglomerate Sime Darby.
