Indian Ceat has introduced its first radial truck tire, specifically designed for the mining industry and intended for operation in extremely harsh conditions.

The Ceat Rockrad tires have undergone extensive testing, including at mines in Odisha (India) and in rugged terrain in Indonesia, and are designed with a focus on increasing durability and mileage, as well as enhancing traction, and Ceat says the novelty will contribute to the "radialization" of the segment, where diagonal tires are still widely used.

A key feature of the Rockrad is the tread pattern with S-shaped central blocks, designed to increase grip and evenly distribute pressure in the contact patch when driving on uneven surfaces, extending the life of the tires. Additionally, the patented sidewall rubber compound increases resistance to cuts while maintaining flexibility, and the manufacturer's internal tests have shown that the rim area strength of the Rockrad is 7% higher than that of similar products, and the novelty also features improved heat dissipation and overall durability. Moreover, the increased tire life will not only reduce customer costs but also meet Ceat's sustainability goals by reducing waste.

Ceat Rockrad tires are entering the market in size 11.00R20 and are intended, among other things, for key mining regions of India: Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, and Ceat adds,
