Bridgestone releases new tires for small-sized trucks and buses

The Bridgestone Corporation is adding the Duravis M807 and Ecopia M812 II tires to its lineup, both of which are designed for year-round use in regions with mild climates and are intended for installation on small-sized trucks and buses (testing was carried out on vehicles such as the Isuzu Elf and Hino Dutro trucks).

Bridgestone Duravis M807 tires are designed for operation in urban traffic with frequent starts and stops and feature a tread pattern with two wide grooves, which improves their lifespan due to increased block stiffness and contact patch with the road, while the increased number of lamellas enhances traction on wet roads.

Compared to the Duravis M804, the tire's lifespan has increased by 15%, traction in rainy conditions has improved by 15%, and due to the optimized internal structure, which reduces heat generation, rolling resistance has also been reduced by 11%. The tires will be available in 19 sizes from 175/75 R15 to 215/70 R17.5.

In turn, the Bridgestone Ecopia M812 II tires are designed for vehicles that operate for short periods on short routes and feature improved fuel efficiency, which, according to the manufacturer, is combined with high durability and effective braking on wet surfaces. The tread is made from an exclusive rubber compound that includes polymers that reduce rolling resistance; technical carbon that increases wear resistance; and a new filler that improves traction on wet surfaces.

Compared to the previous generation tires, the Bridgestone Ecopia M812, rolling resistance has been reduced by 3%, durability has increased by 10%, and braking effectiveness has improved by 8%, meaning the tires, as Bridgestone claims, are both environmentally friendly and capable of increasing the level of safety. The Ecopia M812 II will be released in five sizes from 195/85 R16 to 205/70 R17.5.

Both new tires were created using the Enliten technology platform, which allows for the improvement of key operational characteristics of the tires while making them more environmentally friendly. Additionally, the BCMA (Bridgestone Commonality Modularity Architecture) modular production technology simplifies the supply chain and reduces the impact on the environment. The sales of both tires in Japan are scheduled to start on September 1.
