Apollo Tyres presented a new UHP tire
Apollo Tyres has introduced a new summer tire, the Apollo Aspire 5, a Ultra-High Performance tire that was developed and manufactured in India, with sales planned across all regions where the company has a presence.
According to Apollo, there is a growing popularity of luxury vehicles in India, resulting in an increased demand for UHP tires with diameters of 17 inches and above, with speed indices of W and Y. At the same time, consumers are not only upgrading to higher-class vehicles but also raising their expectations for tires, including ride smoothness and acoustic comfort, and the new tire will be available in sizes from 17 to 20 inches and was designed to meet all the expectations of drivers.
Testing of the Aspire 5 was conducted in Europe, India, Japan, and South Korea, and the tires were adapted to both Indian road conditions and use on electric vehicles. The tires are manufactured using the Dynamic Contour technology, which, according to the company, has improved the level of mechanical and acoustic comfort, the design of the longitudinal grooves has been improved for more effective absorption of shocks on uneven surfaces, and the "synchronized" tread pattern reduces vibrations. Additionally, the Tri-Flex Compound rubber compound includes rubber with a high molecular weight, which increases the strength of the compound; ultra-fine silica particles, which increase both traction and wear resistance; and technical carbon, which reduces hysteresis and heat generation, providing fuel savings.
"Now, tires must not only handle high speeds, and premium car buyers expect tires to be as quiet and comfortable as possible, and the need for such products has become particularly noticeable due to the growing popularity of electric crossovers and luxury SUVs," said Rajesh Dahiya, Vice President, Commercial, Apollo Tyres, for India, Southeast Asia, and the SAARC region. "At Apollo Tyres, we have been preparing for changes in consumer preferences through scientific research and development, studying the experience of competitors, and developing technologies taking into account new trends in the field of mobility."
The Apollo Aspire 5 was developed in collaboration with automakers, and the company also took into account real consumer feedback, with production taking place at the plant in the state of Andhra Pradesh. According to Apollo, the new tire will allow the company to strengthen its leadership in the Indian secondary market for radial passenger tires, and it will be sold through a wide retail network starting from July 2025.
The tires will be available in 17 sizes from 225/60 R17 to 255/40 R20.
