The Toyo R27 summer tire is designed for the Mazda 2 passenger car, being part of the factory equipment for almost all its modifications. It differs from similar models of the Japanese brand in terms of size and some characteristics. Changing the properties of the rubber compound and the design of the internal components of the tire allowed it to have such driving qualities that best emphasize the most striking features of this car model.
Low fuel consumption and extended service life
When creating the tire, Japanese tire manufacturers paid much attention to ensuring maximum economic efficiency. This model is distinguished by its ability to reduce fuel consumption and maintain high performance over tens of thousands of kilometers of mileage. These properties are ensured through the use of several technical solutions. One of them was a significant reduction in the weight of the tire. At the same time, it remained strong and resistant to impact. Its internal power elements are made of synthetic materials that are lightweight and comparable in strength to steel. Additionally, progressive cord winding methods were used, which made it possible to further increase its rigidity. In turn, the tire's ability to maintain its original shape under the continuous influence of multidirectional acceleration forces made it possible to significantly reduce rolling resistance and fuel consumption along with it. It is also worth noting another advantage of using this solution - a more even distribution of external load across the contact patch, which made it possible to increase the service life of the tread.
Balanced driving qualities
One of the key features of the tire's tread is the minimized number of individual elements. This made it possible to significantly reduce both rolling resistance and the level of noise and vibrations. At the same time, the Japanese tire manufacturers were able to ensure a high level of traction properties, especially in rainy conditions. They left the tread blocks in the shoulder areas, replacing similar elements in the central part of the tread with deep lamellas and narrow transverse drainage grooves. The edges formed by them are more than enough to provide good traction properties on slippery surfaces. Additionally, this design further optimizes the distribution of external pressure across the contact patch, making it even more even. This significantly improves driving comfort, giving the tire's behavior reliability and predictability, and also prevents uneven wear.
Safety in bad weather conditions
In addition to forming additional traction edges, the lamellas perform another function, namely, ensuring the drying of the contact patch by draining water into the grooves between the tread blocks. This significantly improves the effectiveness of the drainage system, thanks to which the tire demonstrates good resistance to aquaplaning.
