DescriptionDescription Nordman SX2
The summer tire Nordman SX2 has recently joined the lineup of passenger car models from the Finnish manufacturer, which has not prevented it from becoming popular among domestic car enthusiasts. Its relevance against the backdrop of numerous competitors is due not only to an attractive price tag, but also to high technical characteristics. These, in turn, are ensured by technological solutions that have been shared with this tire by such in-demand models as Hakka Green and Hakka Blue.
Updated drainage groove design
Most of the changes affected the design of the tread pattern. Among the key differences from what was used in the previous model, it is worth noting the design of the drainage grooves. Those located longitudinally have a trapezoidal shape. It limits the transverse mobility of the tread ribs, which is why the tire demonstrates better directional stability and stable behavior at high speed. At the same time, the increased volume of these grooves provides the tread with much greater resistance to aquaplaning. Additional efficiency is given to these tread elements by a surface polished to a mirror finish.
The drainage grooves located transversely in the shoulder areas have also changed significantly. They have become "venturi", thanks to the presence of constrictions. These elements significantly accelerate the water flow, giving the tread additional resistance to aquaplaning.
Acoustic comfort
One of the characteristic features of the model is an increased level of acoustic comfort compared to its predecessor. To achieve this, Finnish tire manufacturers used a whole complex of technical solutions that affected almost all elements of the tire's design. Some of them may seem insignificant at first glance. For example, numerous circular depressions on the sidewalls of the longitudinal drainage grooves can be cited. Located in a checkerboard pattern, these miniature tread elements reduce air resistance and, at the same time, a significant part of the high-frequency noise that occurs during this process.
In turn, to combat the low-frequency rumble that occurs due to vibrations from the power elements of the carcass, Finnish tire manufacturers preferred to use synthetic materials. The multilayer cord is made of these materials, which is more elastic compared to steel. In addition, the rubber compound has a higher "silica" content. This component, among other things, gives the tread the ability to dampen the shock impact from irregularities on the road surface. This also significantly reduces the level of noise and vibration.
Main features of the Nordman SX2 summer tire
- The trapezoidal profile of the longitudinal tread ribs increases the stability and stability of the tire's behavior when moving at high speed;
- The increased width and mirror-finish surface of the longitudinal drainage grooves extremely effectively prevent the occurrence of aquaplaning;
- Special constrictions in the shoulder area grooves of the tread increase the speed of water circulation, which improves the performance of the drainage system;
- The increased acoustic comfort is ensured by special circular depressions on the sidewalls of the drainage grooves, the elasticity of the working surface of the tread, and the use of synthetic materials in the carcass design.

Spent the whole summer on these tires. The impressions are extremely positive. I felt confident on both dry and wet surfaces. The Black Sea's serpentines passed without any complaints. The soft and quiet rubber is a wonderful thing. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but the price is a different story altogether. I've looked for a better price-quality ratio, and I haven't found any. My mileage is not high, but the wear is virtually non-existent. Aquaplaning

The tire itself is fine, but it wears down extremely quickly. Over the course of three months, the tread depth of the front tires dropped by about 5mm.

Good value for the money. At the moment, I can only note a slight increase in noise level compared to the stock bridges.
