DescriptionDescription Metzeler Tourance
The Metzeler Tourance motorcycle tire is designed for motorcycles in the "enduro" category, intended mainly for urban use, but also performing well off paved roads. This model is perfectly suited to the heavy representatives of this versatile category. This is evidenced by the range of available sizes offered by the German manufacturer.
The fact that the Metzeler Tourance tire occupies key positions in the company's model range can be seen from the number of technologies used in its development. Since the tire is designed for powerful and heavy motorcycles, its carcass was created using the Steel Radial technology, which has proven to be so effective that the manufacturer has patented it. The essence of this technological innovation is the use of a steel cord in the tire's design, with threads wound at a zero angle relative to the direction of movement. The addition of steel has not only increased the tire's resistance to dynamic deformation that occurs during movement but also significantly reduced its weight compared to traditional textile cords.
At the same time, the metal cord was wound using the MAW - Metzeller Advanced Window technology. Its main feature is the varying density of the steel threads in certain areas of the tread. This was done to provide optimal stiffness values for the tire when moving in different modes. As a result, the tire demonstrates softness when driving straight and excellent handling when cornering.
Another technical innovation is the MBS - Metzeler Belt System technology. It involves the use of a combination of a radial carcass with a diagonal tread pattern. The use of a radial carcass has reduced the weight of the tire and improved its directional stability, while the diagonal tread pattern has significantly reduced the tire's deformation changes when driving at high speeds.
Main features of Metzeler Tourance
- A V-shaped tread pattern design provides excellent traction and directional stability when driving on paved roads;
- A large number of massive blocks allows confident movement on gravel and dirt types of coverage;
- An optimized carcass design has significantly improved stability when driving at high speeds, while providing even wear throughout the entire service life.

I got it for R1200GS. Previously rode a similar bike for 3 seasons (did about 25,000-30,000km). Holds up great in dry weather, no issues in the rain (haven't checked the condition, though). Very slick on mud (need studs). Loud.

It's like a general-purpose tire, not super good on mud, not great on sand, and just okay on asphalt.

A narrow front (90/90x21) tracks every pothole on the road leading to a sense of instability. A stiff joint doesn’t give a lot of confidence on a wet road. A compromise like any other for adventure bike as it probably is, but I wouldn’t choose them for pure road use.
