The summer tire Kumho Crugen Premium KL33 is positioned by the South Korean manufacturer as a model designed for luxury SUVs and crossovers. From a technical point of view, it is a High Terrain category tire, which implies its operation on highways and off-road in a ratio of 80/20.
Responsive Steering
Installing a set of these tires allows you to give the steering additional responsiveness, and the handling - stability and reliability, especially at high speeds. This was achieved due to the profile of the tread in its shoulder areas. They are noticeably rounded, which ensures the constancy of the size and shape of the contact patch. At the same time, it has a significant width. The latter is achieved due to the massive size of the edge blocks, which in the side projection have a trapezoidal shape. It additionally increases the accuracy of control and the stability of the tire when maneuvering.
Excellent Traction in Challenging Weather Conditions
For a summer tire, the tread of this model contains an increased number of sharp edges. They are formed not so much by blocks, but by hundreds of deep cuts. Most of them are located transversely, which is why the tire demonstrates exceptional efficiency when accelerating and braking on wet pavement. Some blocks contain cross-shaped lamellas. They, in addition to traction, improve driving comfort, giving the tire additional softness on the go and in reactions to steering turns.
Reduced Road Noise and Vibration
When developing the design of the tread pattern, computer modeling technology was used. One of the results of its use was a reduction in noise and vibration. It is achieved by selecting the optimal combination of shape, size, and arrangement of tread elements. At the same time, it reduces not only high-frequency noise but also vibrations that are the source of low-frequency noise, well transmitted to the car's cabin through metal parts.
Improved Efficiency at Low Temperatures
This model was one of the first to use a compound with unique properties. The increased content of silica and the presence of special polymers allow the tread to fit even the smallest road irregularities so tightly that the tire literally sticks to it even at low temperatures. This significantly improves traction on wet pavement. In addition, some components reduce the heating of the tire when moving at high speeds, while giving its tread increased strength against rupture and stretching. This feature extends the life of the tire, even if most of the mileage is on high-speed driving.
Reinforced Sidewalls
Considering the design features of modern SUVs and crossovers, the tire's sidewalls have been strengthened. They contain an additional cord, which, for the sake of keeping the tire's mass at a low level, is made from modern synthetic materials. It is also worth noting the shape of the sidewalls. It is selected in such a way that the load on the force elements and the contact patch is distributed evenly. This significantly increases the stability of the traction properties and also reduces the degree of aggressive impact on the tread, which increases its resistance to wear.
