Description Interstate WinterClaw Sport SXI
Interstate WinterClaw Sport SXI — a new generation "studded" tire designed for regions where winter dictates its own strict rules. Its directional tread with thousands of micro-chromes and three-dimensional lamellae creates effective traction without a single stud.
Small blocks — confident traction
At first glance, the tread seems "sparse" — many compact blocks separated by deep grooves.
This is a solution for deep snow and loose "mash". Each small block works like an independent ground hook:
- when accelerating, they alternately dip into the snow, creating supports, rather than trying to "scoop" the entire mass at once. This eliminates wheelspin;
- when braking, the elements quickly find a solid support in the snow mass, reducing the stopping distance.
The flexibility of the design allows the blocks to bend, repeating the micro-relief of the ice. And the directional pattern additionally organizes the flow of snow and water, directing them not under the tire, but to the sides.
Three-dimensional lamellae
For traction on ice, a friction tire needs lamellae with aggressive geometry. Here, notches with serrated edges are applied. When braking on ice, the teeth bite into the surface, reducing the braking distance by 10-15%. When accelerating, they prevent wheelspin — traction is transmitted without jerks.
Cold-resistant compound
Engineers have adapted the rubber for temperatures below -25°C. Here, low-temperature elastomers and silica are used in proportions that prevent curing. The rubber mixture retains micro-roughness and the ability to envelop ice irregularities even in severe frosts.
Main features of Interstate WinterClaw Sport SXI:
- directional tread with numerous compact blocks provides excellent traction and directional stability on winter roads;
- V-shaped edges forming a continuous line in the contact patch guarantee longitudinal traction and stability during braking-acceleration;
- saw-toothed lamellae improve traction and braking properties on bare ice;
- cold-resistant compound based on low-temperature polymers remains elastic at extremely low temperatures.
