A stiff base has been added between the tread and the carcass, which improves handling on asphalt road surfaces. The tread is cut with deep double grooves. They have a directional shape, which allows them to more effectively counteract aquaplaning, improve handling and traction on snowy surfaces. The double V-shaped groove section and the large number of lateral cuts quickly remove water from the contact area, even at high speeds. They also give the tire excellent traction on ice and snow, and most importantly, minimize the appearance of aquaplaning. These properties are maintained even on fairly worn tires. To reduce vibrations, noise, and more even wear, the right and left parts of the grooves are offset relative to each other. The alternation of blocks of different sizes also serves this purpose.

The tire's increased traction is due to the modified rubber compound. The unique blend of the Goodyear Ultra Grip 7 tire maintains its initial elasticity over large temperature ranges, providing excellent traction. The main feature of this tire is the three-dimensional lamellas (3D BIS), which resemble small pyramids inserted into each other. When small shear forces grasp the road surface, a large number of movable and elastic edges improve the tire's traction. However, when the force increases, when ordinary lamellas fold, the new ones block, pressing against each other, turning the tire into a monolithic structure. This solution increases traction on ice, snow, and wet roads. Also, the tire with these lamellas is much quieter than a regular one. The tire uses a new rubber compound based on polymer technology and silica.
