Description Dunlop GrandTrek AT2
The all-season passenger tire Dunlop GranTrek AT2 is a virtually ideal universal model for high-clearance passenger cars - crossovers and SUVs. The abbreviation in the name AT means all-terrain, i.e. this tire is capable of providing confident movement, both on asphalt and on rough terrain. At the same time, it is impossible not to note the wide range of sizes of this model, since it is perfectly suitable for installation on most modern crossovers and SUVs.
The company's tire engineers preferred to equip this model with a tread pattern with a classic five-rib design. I.e. the tread pattern consists of five longitudinal ribs, which promotes a more even distribution of external pressure on the contact patch, reduces noise levels and reduces the likelihood of uneven wear. However, in essence, there are seven longitudinal ribs of the tread, since in the central part of the tread, there are two rows of combined separate blocks, each of which consists of two parts, forming additional ribs.
Another distinctive feature of the Dunlop GrandTrek AT2 tread is the design of its central rib, which is divided into very long blocks by diagonal drainage grooves. The great length of the blocks made it possible to ensure their high structural rigidity, and the grooves - additional sharp edges. As a result, it was possible to achieve excellent course stability and high acceleration efficiency.
The next innovation can be safely considered the tread pattern itself, whose structure resembles the letter "S". Such a non-directional pattern, filled to the limit with a multitude of separate blocks with sharp edges, allows you to confidently overcome sufficiently complex off-road sections. At the same time, the cross-country performance is equally high, both when moving forward and backward. I.e. the tire allows you to escape from a difficult situation in reverse, if necessary.
Main features of the Dunlop GrandTrek AT2 tire
- The original S-shaped symmetrical tread pattern provides excellent traction on surfaces with various characteristics in any road conditions;
- A rigid central rib, divided into blocks, ensures that the tire demonstrates excellent course stability and high traction;
- A multitude of separate blocks in the central part of the tread forms a large number of sharp edges, which improves traction with slippery surfaces and also allows for more confident overcoming of rough terrain.
