The Continental ContiEcoContact 6 ContiSilent summer tire is an improved version of the same model. With identical "energy efficiency" ratings, it differs in improved acoustic comfort thanks to ContiSilent technology.
The inside of the tread is covered with polyurethane foam. The synthetic elastic material has a fine-porous structure. The numerous voids do not allow sound waves generated by the rolling tire to propagate. As a result, low-frequency rumble and vibrations do not penetrate the cabin, which increases acoustic comfort.
The exceptional fuel efficiency of this tire is ensured by several design features. One of them is the Black Chili rubber compound of the second iteration. Special polymers, acting on it at the molecular level, reduce rolling resistance and, consequently, fuel consumption. A similar effect on these properties is exerted by the tread pattern design and its profile. These features ensure uniform pressure in the contact patch and reduce rolling resistance.
