Novion SS-147 — a motorcycle tire designed for the rear axle of cross-country motorcycles operating in extreme conditions of muddy tracks, sand quarries, and motocross competitions. Its key task is to withstand peak loads during long high-speed runs without losing its working properties.
Carcass and Compound
It is based on a two-layer cord with a reinforced breaker zone. Such an architecture provides exceptional resistance to punctures and tears when hitting hard bumps. The rubber compound with a HARD hardness index is specially adapted for operation at elevated temperatures. It minimizes abrasive wear even when slipping on aggressive soils — the tire's resource is 25-30% higher than that of soft analogs.
Traction on Loose and Unstable Surfaces
The tread pattern is designed according to the principle of maximum block separation. Large elements create a "digging" effect necessary for movement on soft and loose ground. The central zone — trapezoidal blocks with increased length. They are responsible for directed stability during acceleration and braking, reducing longitudinal sway. The shoulder blocks are massive, with a negative angle of inclination. When entering a turn, they work as stabilizers, preventing skidding.
The depth of the grooves between the blocks is 16-18 mm. This creates volumetric drainage pockets that evacuate dirt, sand, and water in fractions of a second, instantly restoring traction.
Less Vibration — More Control
The high profile provides an additional 35-40 mm of vertical deformation under load, which turns the tire into a damping element. The rubber effectively dampens high-frequency vibrations from small bumps and softens impact impulses from bumps, reducing the driver's fatigue on long distances.
