The Michelin Pilot Road 4 motorcycle tire was specifically designed for road motorcycles with engines over 600 cc. Being one of the novelties of the French tire manufacturer, it has a construction created using the most advanced technologies and materials.
Two rubber compound compositions
The tread of this model is made using the so-called "two-compound" compound. The essence of this technology is that the central part of the tread, which "works" mainly when moving in a straight line, contains a hard rubber mixture. Thanks to this, the tire demonstrates excellent stability at high speed, as well as increased resistance to wear. In turn, the shoulder areas of the tread are made of a more elastic compound, which is why this model has stable traction properties even at significant lean angles.
Multifunctional sipes
The tread of this tire contains many X-shaped sipes. These elements improve several important operational properties at once. First of all, this is an increase in traction on wet roads, which is ensured by creating additional traction edges and drying the contact patch. In addition, the sipes optimize the distribution of external load, which has a positive effect on the stability of traction during braking and acceleration, as well as on resistance to uneven wear.
"Advanced" rubber compound composition
The rubber mixture used in the manufacture of the tread consists of more than two-thirds of silica. The use of this component made it possible to significantly improve the traction properties, especially on wet roads. In addition, the compound contains special polymer substances. With their help, high tear resistance of the tread is ensured. This not only improves the protection of the tire's integrity when driving at high speeds but also the stability of traction properties.
