DescriptionDescription Michelin Desert Race
The popularity of the Michelin Desert Race motorcycle tire is due to several factors. One of them is the use of these tires by the factory KTM team participating in the "Paris-Dakar" rally-raid. The model was developed for use in conditions that are extremely unfavorable for any rubber product - continuous impact and high-temperature exposure. Resistance to them is another reason for the popularity of this tire.
Use with Bib-Mousse
The first version of this model appeared back in 1983. At the same time, the French manufacturer introduced Bib-Mousse - an alternative to the traditional camera, representing a hardened butylene foam with cavities filled with nitrogen. Both products were created with consideration for joint use. I.e. this model initially has an execution without a camera, but if necessary, its inner part can be filled with "mousse", which will significantly increase the already exceptional reliability of the tire.
Optimized rubber compound
The tire is designed to operate at a temperature of up to 145 degrees Celsius. Such thermal resistance is largely ensured by the physical and chemical properties of the rubber compound. Part of its composition is special polymers. With their help, increased heat conductivity of the tread and its strength for breaking and stretching are provided.
Main features of Michelin Desert Race
- designed for sandy off-road;
- can be used in conjunction with Bib-Mousse;
- optimized rubber compound that withstands heating up to 145 degrees Celsius;
- a tread pattern with maximum performance on sandy and rocky soils.
