Original 6-rib design of the tread pattern
Since the Matador FR3 tire was specifically designed for use on roads with a solid surface, particular attention was paid to the stability of behavior when driving at high speeds during its development. This is largely why it was equipped with an original S-shaped symmetrical non-directional tread pattern, containing 6 longitudinal ribs, which guarantee excellent directional stability on any road surface.
Another characteristic feature of the tread pattern of this model is the increased size of the central part of the tread, where 4 out of 6 longitudinal ribs are located. Each of these ribs represents a separate row of small blocks, separated from each other by S-shaped drainage channels. In this way, the developers provided a contact patch with a multitude of sharp edges of traction, which gave the tire excellent traction parameters. Additionally, it should be noted that the surface of the blocks located in the two extreme longitudinal ribs of the central part has special wavy lamellas. The main purpose of these tread elements is to increase the resistance to lateral accelerations by increasing the stiffness of the blocks.
